Rules
  • The Turtleman Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned and officiated event. All athletes participating should be familiar with the USAT rules. http://www.usatriathlon.org/Events/Rules.aspx
  • Bike helmets must be CSPC approved and worn correctly on the bike.
  • All bar end plugs must be plugged prior to start of the event.
  • All athletes must be wearing a chip and a wrist band to participant. Athletes are required to return timing chips whether they finish or do not finish. The Race Timer will invoice athletes for chips not returned.
  • Open/Elite, Relay Team, and PC athletes will be wearing a red swim caps, Age Group athletes will be wearing white swim caps.
  • ONLY PARTICIPATING ATHLETES AND AUTHORIZED VOLUNTEERS and OFFICIALS IN THE TRANSITION AREA – No pets, children, coaches, best friends (unless they are also participating athletes), or non-participating relatives/in-laws.
  • TRANSISTION IS CLOSED to other than athletes currently completing UNTIL THE LAST ATHLETE HAS FINISHED THE BIKE AND ENTERED THE RUN COURSE. Entering transition after you finished your race and before transition re-opens without permission of race management (red shirts) will mean an automatic DISQUALIFICATION.
  • Coverage of the upper torso for male athletes is required after the swim.  
  • You must know the course, don’t rely on volunteers or police to tell you where to go, unless there is an emergency.
  • All athletes must obey instructions from police officers and other emergency personal.
  • This is an open bike and run course on public roads, police patrols will be at major intersections to direct traffic and cones will be used to separate traffic from athletes, but you ARE NOT ASSUME you have the right of way. 
  • All athletes are required to have a USAT license (one-day or annual) and present government issued identification for pick-up of race packet.
  • Race number MUST be attached to bike prior to entering transition area.
  • Riding bike in transition area is permitted. The last 100 yards of the bike course entering Transition is a NO PEDAL, NO PASS Zone.

Information

  • Open/Elite athletes are not eligible for Age Group awards. Athletes wishing to be entered in the Open/Elite wave should indicate their request by checking the box on on-line registration form. All requests will be reviewed and approved by the Race Director. 
  • PC - Physically Challenged athletes (as defined by USAT) will start with the Relay Team Wave.
  • Age Group athletes are only eligible for age group awards and not overall awards.
  • A bag drop area will be provided outside the transition area for keeping post race clothing and other necessities. Bags will be provided. Please do not keep valuables in the bag drop area, as the Turtleman Triathlon will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items in the Bag Drop area, which will be monitored by volunteers
  • No parking is permitted in Turtle Lake Park on race day. Parking is available at Chippewa Middle School and three nearby church parking lots. PLEASE, DO NOT PARK ON GRASS AREAS.
  • Recycle bins will be available for water bottles and other recyclable items. Please do not throw trash in the recycle bins.
  • Except for Open/Elite, Relay Teams, and PC designated bike racks, all other bike racks are open. Please show respect and courtesy to your fellow athletes.
  • No Clydesdale or Athena categories will be available at the Turtleman Triathlon.
  • Race Results will be posted on the Turtleman Triathlon web site by Sunday, August 10th. Results are also submitted to USAT for National Rankings and for awards for the Midwest MultiSport and Heart of America Triathlon series.
